Photosensitive liposomes for DMPC phospholipid application

Speaking of DMPC phospholipids, you should not be unfamiliar with the product name dimyristoyl lecithin. This synthetic phospholipid with a PC content of 99 has many applications. One of them is photosensitive liposomes. Follow the AVT editor to get to know it.

What kind of phospholipid is DMPC?   Photosensitive liposomes for DMPC phospholipid application-AVT (Shanghai) Pharmaceutical Tech Co., Ltd

DMPC, the full name is dimyristoyl lecithin, CAS number 18194-24-6, the chemical name is 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, as a reagent grade PC phospholipid, the appearance is white powder or solid, the molecular formula is C36H72NO8P, and the molecular weight is 677.96. Regarding the storage of phospholipids, store at a temperature below -20°C in a tightly sealed manner.

Photosensitive liposomes, a photodynamic therapy liposome drug developed by Novartis AG, Switzerland, were launched in 2000 for the treatment of subretinal foveal choroidal angiogenesis caused by wet age-related macular degeneration. Vascular leakage and bleeding caused by the abnormal structure of the new blood vessel wall will cause a series of secondary pathological changes, which is an important cause of blindness in the current elderly.

Photosensitive liposomes can release API and other contents when triggered by light at a specific wavelength. Verteporfin (absorption wavelength 692nm) is used as the API of Visudyne® and is also a photosensitizer. It irradiates the lesion with a low-intensity, non-thermal red light source with a wavelength of 689±3nm, and photochemical reaction occurs in an aerobic environment to form monooxygen. Produce local cytotoxicity, and produce reactive oxygen free radicals, damage local neovascular endothelial cells, and help blood vessels close. This principle of action makes Visudyne®'s photodynamic therapy have the advantages of low toxicity and high selection.

The photosensitive liposome is a unilamellar liposome. The phospholipid composition in the prescription is DMPC and EPG. The molar ratio of verteporfin to phospholipid is 1:8, and the final product has a particle size of about 150nm~300nm. Because of the lipophilicity of verteporfin, the encapsulation rate can be close to 100%.

As a supplier of high-end phospholipid preparations, AVT has various types of phospholipids in stock. If you are interested in this phospholipid, welcome to call us at 400-6262 623!
